PennState Federal Credit Union endows Trustee Scholarship
The Penn State Federal Credit Union has pledged $50,000 to establish a Trustee Matching Scholarship to support undergraduates University-wide who have financial need. The Penn State Federal Credit Union Trustee Matching Scholarship is the credit union's first major gift to the University. The credit union has previously supported the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and recently signed a one-year underwriting agreement with WPSU-FM.
Penn State Federal, a member-owned and managed financial association that has been serving the Penn State community since 1959, offers a number of low-fee financial services. Membership is open to all Penn State employees, retirees and students plus many other companies who consider themselves part of the Penn State Community.
Penn State's Trustee Matching Scholarship program was launched in 2002 and aims to raise $100 million in private support for new undergraduate scholarship endowments across the University by June 30, 2007. The Board of Trustees agreed to match 5 percent of gifts with University funds, and to make the matching funds available to assist students as soon as the donor signs the scholarship pledge forms and guidelines. During the current academic year, approximately 2,500 Penn State undergraduates are benefitting from Trustee Matching Scholarships.
