Penny Bill Pay allows you to pay all your bills online. Once you pay a bill, Penny Bill Pay remembers the mailing and account information for you, so paying bills next month is a snap! You can set up one-time or recurring payments to anyone, even your babysitter! Get unlimited bill paying with Freedom Checking (all other checking accounts charge $5 per month for this service).

Instructions

To send your first bill payment, please follow these steps. If you need help with Penny Bill Pay, you may call 800-828-4636, send an email to , or use the built-in Help screen within Penny Bill Pay.

  1. Go to www.pennstatefederal.com
  2. Log into Penny On-Line with your username and password. If you are not signed up for Penny On-Line, contact the credit union to sign up for Penny On-Line.
  3. After logging in, click the "Penny Bill Pay" button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions in order to enroll in Bill Pay.
  5. After your enrollment in Bill Pay is complete, please allow up to 3 days for your enrollment to be processed.
  6. You should receive an e-mail after your enrollment has been successfully processed.
  7. Log into Penny On-Line with your username and password.
  8. After logging in, click the "Penny Bill Pay" button.
  9. You may be asked to create challenge questions and answers. Challenge questions are additional security to protect your account from sending unauthorized payments.
  10. Click on the "Payments" button to open the Payments screen.
  11. The Payments screen lists the payees whom you may send payments to. If you have just enrolled in bill pay for the first time, you do not have any payees set up yet. Click "Add a Payee" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  12. You may be prompted for the system to send an authorization code to your phone or e-mail. This authorization code is additional security to protect your account from sending unauthorized payments.
  13. After you have successfully added your payee, the payee will be listed on the Payments screen. To the right of each payee, there are type-in boxes for your payment amount and payment date. To prepare a payment to this payee, When entering a payment date, be sure to allow enough time for the check to be printed and mailed. This is indicated by the "Deliver By" date.
  14. When you are finished, we recommended that you Log Out of Bill Pay in order to protect your security.

Additional Features

Penny Bill Pay has many additional features to fit your needs:

  • If you have a monthly bill, you can schedule recurring payments to pay automatically each month.
  • If your payment is due in the next one or two days, you have the ability to rush payment. There is a fee for this service.
  • You have the ability to electronically transfer money to another person's checking account.
  • You may also use bill payment through our mobile app, Penny Mobile.

Technical Requirements

Penny Bill Pay requires a checking account at Penn State Federal Credit Union and a Penny On-Line username and password. You must have valid contact information and e-mail address listed on your account. Internet access is required. We recommend the newest version of Google Chrome (external website), Firefox (external website), Microsoft Edge (external website), OR Safari (external website) web browsing software. In your browser's options, JavaScript and cookies must be enabled (these are enabled by default).

Fees

Penny Bill Pay service is included with Freedom Checking. For all other checking accounts, enrolling in Penny Bill Pay will assess a service fee of $5 on the last business day of each month. Non-sufficient funds services (NSF), automatic overdraft transfers, and stop payments are subject to fees as described on the Fee Schedule page. Rush processing, gift payments, and donation payments are subject to fees as described in the Bill Pay Terms and Conditions.
